Summer is officially here in Granbury. From live music on the Square to fireworks over the lake, here are 12 things worth doing in Granbury this June.

June in Granbury goes fast. The lake is warm, the Square is alive, and the calendar is packed with live music, local events, outdoor adventures, and more than a few things you probably did not know were happening right in your backyard.

Whether you are a lifelong local, a newcomer still figuring out the town, or someone visiting from the DFW area for the weekend, here is what is worth your time this month.

1. Catch a Show at Granbury Live

Granbury Live on the Square has one of the best June lineups in recent memory. The month opens June 5 with a Cher tribute show, followed by country legend Gene Watson on June 6. The AC/DC tribute Back in Black takes the stage June 12, Lone Star Skynyrd closes out June 20, and the Alabama tribute Alabama Sunset wraps up the month on June 26 and 27. All shows start at 7:00 PM and tickets run $40 to $75 depending on seating. Granbury Live is at 110 N. Crockett Street on the Square. granburylive.com

2. See Legally Blonde at the Granbury Opera House

The Granbury Theatre Company’s summer production of Legally Blonde runs June 5 through July 5 at the Historic Granbury Opera House, 133 E Pearl Street. This is one of the most beloved Broadway musicals of the past 25 years, and the GTC consistently delivers. Shows run Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM. 3. Get Out on Lake Granbury

June is prime lake season. Water temps are ideal and the crowds have not hit the July peak yet. Rent a pontoon boat, kayak, or paddleboard by calling 817-279-1000. Shanley Park and City Beach are solid access points. There is nothing quite like a Texas evening on the water when the sun starts dropping behind the hills west of town. Get out before the summer crowds arrive in force.

4. Spend a Day on the Historic Granbury Square

The Square does not need an occasion, but June gives you one every weekend. More than 60 boutiques, specialty shops, restaurants, and bars line the most historic courthouse square in Texas. Spend a morning at one of the coffee spots, browse the boutiques, grab lunch at a local restaurant, and come back at dusk when everything slows down and the Square takes on a different energy entirely. It is the kind of place you can show up with no plan and leave having had a great day.

5. Dine Local and Do It Intentionally

June is a great time to work through the restaurants you have been meaning to try. The Waterin’ Trough is a local staple just off the Square. Merry Spoon, Revolver Brewing, The Fillin’ Station, and Farina’s Winery and Cafe round out a serious dining scene for a town this size. If you have been defaulting to the same two or three places, challenge yourself this month. Try something new every week. Granbury’s independent restaurant community is worth the effort, and keeping those dollars local matters.

6. Plan Ahead for Red, White and Celebrate on July 4th Weekend

Granbury’s Fourth of July celebration is one of the largest in Hood County, drawing more than 15,000 spectators to the parade alone. The 2026 event features a hometown parade with the Dan Coates Family as Grand Marshal, vendors on the Square, a 5K run/walk, and fireworks over Lake Granbury. This is technically July, but June is the time to book your accommodations and lock in your plans. Things fill up fast. Details at granburychamber.com

7. Watch a Movie at the Brazos Drive-In

The Brazos Drive-In is one of the last authentic drive-in theaters in Texas and a genuine local treasure. Located a few miles from downtown, it runs double features on Friday and Saturday nights from May through October, with showtime just after sunset. Bring lawn chairs or stay in the car, tune to the FM station, and enjoy the full experience. Call ahead at 817-573-1311 to check the schedule before making the drive.

8. Visit Barons Creek Vineyards

Barons Creek has become one of the go-to spots in Granbury for a relaxed afternoon out. A family-owned winery with award-winning wines made from Texas, California, Washington, and Spanish vineyards, it is a solid option for date nights, group outings, or a quiet weekday escape when the summer heat makes everything feel a little slower. The Granbury location is part of a Texas-wide operation that started in Fredericksburg. Worth a stop if you have not been.

9. Walk the Moments in Time Hike and Bike Trail

This 2.17-mile paved trail runs from Granbury Regional Airport to Shanley Park and is an underused gem. It is wide, flat, and family-friendly. Good for morning walks, bike rides with kids, or just getting outside before the afternoon heat sets in. June mornings in Granbury are genuinely beautiful before the temperature climbs. Get out early and take advantage.

10. Explore the Hood County Jail Museum

If you have not been, or if you have visitors in town this summer, the Hood County Jail Museum is worth an hour of your time. Housed in an authentic 1885 jail just off the northeast corner of the Square, the museum preserves the original upstairs jail cells and hanging gallows. It is a fascinating piece of Granbury’s history that a surprising number of locals have never actually visited.

11. Support a Local Business You Have Been Meaning to Visit

Granbury has a genuinely strong independent business community, and summer is a good time to be intentional about supporting it. Whether that is All About Sports for summer gear, 817 Print for custom projects, The Laser Junky for branded gifts and engraving, or a shop on the Square you have walked past a dozen times without stopping — make the effort this month. The local businesses that make Granbury worth living in need the same support they give the community. #keepgranburylocal

12. Find a Quiet Place to Actually Work

This one is for the remote workers, freelancers, and small business owners in the mix. If you have been grinding at home all spring, June is a good time to change your environment. The Workplace at 307 W. Pearl is Granbury’s coworking space for professionals who need a real desk, fast WiFi, and a quiet professional environment without a long-term lease. Day passes are $30. Part-time private office memberships start at $195 per month. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is get out of the house.
